How to download your TikTok data
- Wait time
- A few minutes – 2 days
- Format to choose
- JSON
- Updated
Your watch history and likes are why your For You page feels so personal. You can request a copy of that data from the app in a few steps.
On your phone (app)
- Open TikTok and tap Profile in the bottom right.
- Tap the ☰ (menu) icon in the top right.
- Tap Settings and privacy.
- Tap Account.
- Tap Download your data.
- Choose which data to include and the file format (see the section below).
- Tap Request data at the bottom. TikTok may send a verification code to your email or phone.
On the web
- Go to tiktok.com and log in.
- Hover over your profile picture in the top right and click Settings.
- In the Privacy section, find Download your data.
- Choose your data and the JSON format, then click Request data.
Tip: In some app versions, Download your data sits under Privacy instead of Account. If you can’t find it, type “data” into the search box in settings.
Which options to choose
- File format: JSON — This is the critical one. If you choose TXT, ScrollTwin can’t read the file.
- Which data: The easiest choice is All data. If you’d rather pick, these are enough:
- Profile
- Activity (watch history, likes, favorites, following and searches live here)
- Your videos aren’t included, so the ZIP is usually small. There is no date range to pick; TikTok gives you the history it has.
Tip: With a custom selection, some versions leave out the watch history. Choose All data to be safe.
When the file arrives
- TikTok sends an in-app notification when your file is ready. New accounts are often ready instantly; busy accounts can take a couple of days.
- On the Download your data screen, switch to the Download data tab and tap Download. The file is available for up to 4 days; after that you’ll need to request it again.
- Don’t unzip it. Go to scrolltwin.com/en/upload and drop the ZIP as-is.
FAQ
Are my messages uploaded? No. The ZIP is opened inside your browser and the messages section is never read. Only a summary of your interests leaves your device.
It keeps saying “Pending”. That’s normal; large accounts can take a few days. There’s no need to cancel and re-request.
I picked TXT by mistake. Make a new request and choose JSON this time. You don’t need to download the old file.
I can’t find the file and got no notification. Check it yourself: Settings and privacy → Account → Download your data → Download data tab. If more than 4 days have passed, it has expired; make a new request.
