How to download your Spotify data
- Wait time
- A few days (up to 30 days)
- Format to choose
- JSON (automatic)
- Updated
What you play most and the songs you’ve liked are basically a fingerprint of your music taste. You can request a copy from Spotify’s Account privacy page. It always comes as JSON, so there’s no format to pick.
On your phone (app)
The Spotify app has no download button, so you’ll do this in your phone’s browser.
- Open your browser and go to spotify.com/account/privacy. Log in with your Spotify account.
- Scroll down to the Download your data section.
- Tick Account data.
- Tap Request data.
- Spotify sends you a confirmation email. Open it and tap Confirm. If you skip this, the request doesn’t start.
On the web
- Go to spotify.com/account/privacy and log in.
- Or on spotify.com, click your profile icon in the top right → Account → Account privacy.
- In Download your data, tick Account data.
- Click Request data.
- Click Confirm in the email Spotify sends you.
Tip: The confirmation email arrives within minutes. If you don’t see it, check spam — an unconfirmed request is never prepared.
Which options to choose
- Account data: Yes — This is enough. It includes your last year of listening history, liked songs, library, playlists and the interests Spotify has inferred for you. Usually ready within 5 days.
- Extended streaming history: Optional — Everything you’ve played since you opened your account. It makes your profile sharper but can take up to 30 days. If you’re not in a hurry, tick it too; the two packages arrive separately.
- Technical log information: No — We don’t need it.
- Format: Nothing to choose; Spotify sends JSON files automatically.
When the file arrives
- Spotify emails you when your data is ready. Click the download button in the email (log in again if asked). The link only works for a limited time (usually about two weeks), so don’t leave it too long.
- The file is usually called my_spotify_data.zip. Don’t unzip it — go to scrolltwin.com/en/upload and drop the ZIP as-is.
FAQ
Are my messages or payment details uploaded? No. The ZIP is opened inside your browser. Only a summary of your listening history, library and interests is created; payment details and messages are never read.
Which should I wait for, Account data or Extended history? Start with Account data — your profile can be ready within days. When the extended history arrives, you can upload that too.
The email never came. First make sure you actually confirmed the request email. Then check spam. If it’s still missing, the Account privacy page shows the status of your request.
The file is big. Account data is usually small. A big file is probably the extended history, which is fine — upload it as-is.
